Elise is a graduate of the BSc Speech and Language Therapy program at the University of Galway. She has experience working in many different sectors within the health care profession. She has experience in supporting children and adults within clinical settings including paediatric primary care, paediatric disability, adult primary care and acute setting. Elise has experience working with a diverse range of client groups including working with children and adults with Down Syndrome, Developmental Language Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, speech sound disorders, language disorders/delay, neurological disease, head and neck cancer, and acute illness. She is formally trained in the assessment and management of FEDS (feeding, eating, drinking, and swallowing) disorders. Elise is a member of the regulatory body IASLT (Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists) and her qualification is recognised by the regulating Health and Social care Professional body (CORU). Elise is driven by focusing her work on her clients’ goals and takes a client-centred approach to her assessments and management pathways. Elise recognised the importance of patient centred care and involving all aspects of the client’s life including family, friends, and education. Elise is willing to learn and shape her learning around what her client requires. She understands the benefits of working within a multidisciplinary team, and often collaborate with other professionals to help support her clients to reach their full potential.
